Assistant Health Club Manager
No matter how great our hotels or products are, guests will not return if we do not deliver standout service, it is that simple. For that reason, we want to make sure that everyone in the hotel delivers world-class service, on time, and to the highest standards. We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and need people to work in a range of shifts and days, this means flexibility is required. The hotel’s busiest periods are during evenings and weekends, any specific working pattern requests can be discussed at an interview.
Set in 1100 acres of English countryside, East Sussex National offers a perfect retreat for both business and leisure guests. With 104 beautiful bedrooms, health club, spa (with 9 treatments rooms, Rassoul and bathing suite) and two championship golf courses. East Sussex National also offers a wide range of meeting and events spaces which is ideal for day meetings, residential conferences or that special social event.
HOURS: 40 hours a week, flexible over a 7-day shift pattern, and will include working evenings and weekends.

We have an exercise ethos based around everyday functional movement, whether through members’ classes or guided exercise on the Gym floor. We seek to re-align the body’s natural sequence, helping our members move fully. The Spa, Café and Lounges provide space to relax, re-invigorate and meet with friends.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a trained and experienced health club manager or senior who is able to provide fitness, personal training and exercise sessions to a high standard for clients and members. Do you have a working background in Sports, Fitness or Leisure? A background in Hospitality and Catering, or is your background mainly in the Spa and Wellness Industry? We can offer you more! We want you to join our team of like-minded professionals with skill sets, qualifications and experience across our Club areas: Gym, Classes, Spa and Café.
You will be a natural connector with an interest and passion for health, wellness, nutrition and fitness. You will provide a caring and attentive level of service for our members, under the supervision of the Team Managers, who will provide support for your development and training. You and the whole team will be multi-skilled, working collaboratively and offering the very best to our members.
Your role will be wide and varied, representing the company’s core beliefs and values. All team members are required to have an attention to detail, the desire to learn, an ability to strike up a conversation with confidence and care. The ability to work very well in a team environment, and display superb communication skills, whilst taking instructions from senior executives. This is an ideal position for a smart, motivated individual who has a huge passion for excellence, and a high regard for working in a collaborative environment. You’ll look to master your core responsibilities while taking on new projects that move Natural Fit (and your career!) forward.
On any given day
You will have a wealth of responsibilities, wide and varied making no day the same. In time and with the required training, this will include:
- Being a true ambassador by embracing our company values every day
- Connecting with customers and members to establish their aims, needs and goals
- Delivering fitness and exercise appointments, such as personal training sessions, gym inductions and wellness screens
- Daily housekeeping to maintain cleanliness and provide high standards in all facilities throughout professionalism in the club
- Providing a health focused service to our customers and members, for example, in the Café, Gym and Spa areas
- Playing a huge part in our ever-growing marketing, sales and events campaigns
- Exceptional customer service and handling of new enquiries
- 40 hour week on a five day rota across seven days’ and in line with Club openings.
Desired skills or experience
- 2+ years of working within a team at a Senior Level
- A passion for health, fitness, wellbeing, nutrition and all-round excellence
- Level 3 Fitness / Personal Training qualification
- Designing, coaching and delivering group exercise classes
- Strength & Conditioning experience
- HYROX trained or prepared to attend training
- Carrying out inductions & creating personal Fitness Programmes
- Control of Studio Timetable, Instructors & PT’s
- Experience in selling memberships and working with the team on retention
- Driving HYROX, PT (Individual & Group, Boot Camps and Fitness Retreats
- Pool Plant Trained or willing to be trained
- Confidence in communicating with people, in person and on the telephone
- An ability to flex according to the needs of the business, members and team
