Salary: £26,000 - £35,000
Location: Hastings, UK
Hours: Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00

At Interface Manufacturing Ltd (IML), we’ve been delivering high-quality, custom electronic assemblies since 1999. We pride ourselves on offering top tier contract electronics solutions to global clients, but we know we can only do that with a great team.
We are passionate about excellence, but we are equally dedicated to our employees’ growth, well-being, and happiness.
The Role: Our Final Line of Defence
As our Quality Inspector, you will be the guardian of our craftsmanship. Your main mission is to maintain and uphold the highest quality standards across our electronics manufacturing process.
From PCBAs and cable assemblies to full box builds, you'll ensure everything leaving our floor meets IPC standards and customer specifications perfectly. You will drive a "right first time" culture, spot defect trends, and make sure our clients receive nothing but excellence.
What You’ll Do Every Day:
- Inspect & Verify: Perform detailed visual inspections on assemblies against IPC standards, ensuring they perfectly match Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and customer guidance.
- Catch & Fix Defects: Identify and document non-conformances (like faulty soldering or misaligned components) and work closely with the production team to oversee the rework and re-inspection process.
- Keep the Floor Safe & Compliant: Ensure ESD safety protocols are followed, verify that calibrated tools are used correctly, and check that all production documentation is fully signed off.
- Track the Data: Maintain accurate inspection logs, produce monthly quality reports, and help us spot manufacturing trends to improve our overall yields.
- Certify with Confidence: Prepare first article inspection records and ensure work packs are complete with flawless traceability and inspection stamps.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for someone with an "eagle eye" for detail—someone who is passionate about maintaining standards and comfortable making independent pass/fail decisions. Ideally, you bring:
- Electronics Inspection Experience: A solid background inspecting PCBAs (SMT and conventional), cable harnesses, and mechanical box builds.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610 / IPC-WHMA-620) and the ability to confidently read circuit diagrams and BOMs.
- Tech-Savvy Skills: Experience using inspection equipment (like AOI) and comfort using MRP/IT systems for logging quality data.
- Clear Communication: A constructive and confident communication style when giving feedback to assembly staff and sharing trends with management.
How We’ll Measure Success Together:
- Minimizing or entirely eliminating customer returns by catching defects early.
- Keeping inspection times smooth and efficient to prevent bottlenecks before final dispatch.
- Helping the production team improve first-time pass yields through your helpful feedback.
- Maintaining 100% accuracy in quality documentation and traceability.
