About Apex Hydraulics
With over 40 years of industry excellence, Apex Hydraulics specialises in the design, manufacture, and repair of bespoke hydraulic equipment, including cylinders, power packs, and specialized fluid power projects. Operating from our large, modern workshop in Dewsbury, we provide high-end, low-quantity, and one-off engineering solutions.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our team. Because we deal with high-pressure hydraulic equipment, we require a welder who takes immense pride in their craftsmanship, ensuring deep penetration, clean finishes, and structurally sound, leak-free welds.
This is a varied role involving both the fabrication of new custom items from technical drawings and the repair/rework of heavy-duty hydraulic components brought in for refurbishment.
Key Responsibilities:
- High-Quality Welding: Executing high-standard MIG and/or TIG welding on hydraulic cylinders, mounts, flanges, and power pack frameworks.
- Fabrication & Prep: Cutting, prepping, and tack-welding components accurately prior to final weld.
- Reading Drawings: Working confidently from engineering drawings and geometric tolerances to fabricate components from scratch.
- Repair Work: Gauging, stripping back, and rebuilding worn or damaged welded sections on units brought in for repair.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring all welds are clean, free of defects, and capable of withstanding high operational pressures.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven Experience: Strong background in industrial MIG welding and fabrication (TIG experience is a distinct advantage).
- Pressure Welding Mindset: Experience welding pressure vessels, pipework, heavy machinery, or hydraulic components is highly desirable.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and layout fabrications.
- Self-Management: Able to work independently, manage your own workshop schedules, and maintain a safe, clean working environment.
- Flexibility: A proactive attitude with a willingness to work overtime when workload and lead times require.
What We Offer
