Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and removing formwork (shuttering) used to shape concrete structures in commercial and industrial projects. Your expertise will ensure the safe, precise, and efficient creation of concrete forms that meet project specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, demonstrating your craftsmanship and mechanical aptitude while contributing to high-quality building projects.
Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to determine formwork requirements.
- Construct, assemble, and install formwork using hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques to create sturdy molds for concrete pouring.
- Measure and cut materials accurately to ensure proper fit and alignment of formwork structures.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment safely for lifting and positioning large formwork components.
- Remove completed formwork carefully after concrete has set, ensuring the integrity of the structure.
- Collaborate with masons, carpenters, and other trades to coordinate tasks efficiently on-site.
- Maintain safety standards by inspecting tools and equipment regularly, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, and measuring devices.
- Experience with power tools including drills, grinders, and saws for cutting and shaping materials.
- Knowledge of welding techniques for joining metal formwork components securely.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to construction equipment operation and maintenance.
- Skilled in carpentry techniques necessary for building precise formwork structures.
- Familiarity with roofing systems as they relate to formwork applications in multi-story constructions.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper posture and technique.
- Valid commercial driving license preferred for transporting materials or equipment between sites.
- Basic masonry skills beneficial for integrating concrete forms with other structural elements.
