We are looking for a Technician Apprentice (HGV) to join our valued team at Trumbar Truck Care, part of the Bartrum Group which is a family firm now in its ninth decade of trading and still going strong.
Join our dynamic team as a Technician Apprentice (HGV) and kick-start your career in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair! This paid apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop hands-on skills working with heavy goods vehicles, including trucks and trailers. Under mentorship from experienced Technicians alongside day release to College, you will gain practical and theoretical experience in all of the necessary skills needed. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to learn technical trade skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the maintenance and safety of essential fleet vehicles.
Duties
- Maintain and repair all Bartrums fleet assets.
- Perform all minor and major repairs, on lorries and trailers for the Bartrums Fleet and our external customers.
- Collaborate with the repair team to diagnose problems and plan repairs.
- Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on the vehicles.
- MOT preparation and steam cleaning (as required once trained and in line with H&S requirements).
- Road test vehicles (alongside qualified Technician).
- Report any unsafe equipment and practices.
- Ensure that the work and communal areas are clean and tidy and clear of any obstacles.
- Updating and completing computerised and paper-based vehicle records as and when required
- Maintain records for, issuing inventory, and usage of all parts and consumables at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all legislation and regulations issued by the government and local authorities.
- Maintain good housekeeping keeping the premises and surrounding areas free from debris and rubbish.
