Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant (Nights) to join our team within a reputable care home specialising in senior care. The ideal candidate will have a caring nature and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for our residents during overnight hours. This role offers the opportunity to provide high-quality care and support within a warm and supportive environment.
The Care Assistant (Nights) will be responsible for supporting residents throughout the night, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety, whilst assisting with personal care and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment within the home.
Duties
- Provide high standards of personalised care and support to residents throughout the night
- Assist residents with nightly routines and personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, repositioning, continence care, and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Carry out regular night checks and monitor residents’ safety, comfort, and wellbeing throughout the shift
- Undertake cleaning duties throughout the home to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control during night hours
- Ensure communal areas, equipment, and resident environments are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly to senior staff or the appropriate medical personnel
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and provide reassurance and support to residents during the night
- Maintain a safe, calm, and welcoming environment within the care home
- Complete accurate documentation and handovers to ensure continuity of care between shifts
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including safeguarding policies
Skills
- Previous experience within a care home or care environment is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with residents, families, healthcare professionals, and team members
- Compassionate nature combined with patience and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and remain attentive during night shifts
- Competent IT skills for documentation and updating resident records accurately
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage responsibilities effectively during busy periods
