Lavery's is Belfast's oldest family-owned bar. Spanning three floors we have been at the heart of the city's social scene for over 100 years. With a full kitchen serving all areas we also have a number of newly refurbished beer gardens.
Title: Bartender
Responsible to: Shift Supervisors, Duty Managers, and Heads of Departments, Assistant General Manager, General Manager & Directors
Main purpose of Job: To provide a friendly and efficient service within the bar, dispensing orders accurately, with courtesy and to a high standard.
Person Specification:
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Be professional and well presented
- Be able to communicate well with people at all levels
- Be able to prioritise duties
- Be a team player
- Be able to work unsupervised in a busy environment
- Be confident, patient, friendly, sociable, reliable and self-motivated
Essential Requirements:
- Have proof of right to work in the UK
- Have a bank account in your own name
- Be able to converse in English
- Obtain excellent skills in written English and Maths
- Have a fixed place of residence & live within reasonable traveling distance to place of work, taking into consideration travel when public transport is not available
JOB DESCRIPTION – BAR PERSON
Main Duties:
- To report for duty on time and in the correct uniform.
- To ensure that the bar area is kept clean at all times.
- Follow rigidly and observe all hygiene regulations.
- To deal with any customer complaints in a professional manner and to notify management of these.
- To ensure that the customers needs and requirements are met.
- To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming.
- To ensure that all reasonable care is taken for the health and safety of yourself, other employees, guests and other persons on the premises.
- To observe all safety procedures and rules.
- To attend all training courses as notified to you by management.
- To carry out any other duties as may be notified to you by management.
- To ensure that all fire doors are closed and that fire routes are kept clear at all times.
- To be aware and comply with company policy regarding: Fire, Health & Safety, Hygiene, Food Hygiene, Customer Care & Security.
- Collect bottles/glassware efficiently
- Clean seating areas, toilets, floors and corridors
- Restock glassware and fridges
- Remove recycling and rubbish from bars
- Serve and present beverages, quickly and efficiently, meeting our standards
- Keep up to date with current promotions and new products
- Make customers aware of offers on our great food and drink range
- Maintain personal knowledge by completing in-house training and workbooks
- Be involved and contribute at team meetings
Occasional Duties:
- To attend meeting/training sessions as required.
- To carry out any other reasonable request made by Management.
- During peak times it may be necessary to work in other similar related departments

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 8 per week
