What Does a Motorcycle Service Technician Do?
As a Motorcycle Service Technician Apprentice, you’ll dive into the world of motorbike mechanics and electronics. You’ll learn how to keep premium motorcycles safe, efficient, and road-ready by working on:
- Engine, exhaust, and brake systems.
- Advanced motorbike electronics and electrical diagnostics.
- Routine servicing and safety checks on the latest models.
Day-to-day tasks include:
- Carrying out motorcycle servicing and maintenance.
- Repairing and replacing parts to strict brand standards.
- Helping customers understand what work their motorcycle needs.
- Estimating repair times and recording all work completed on vehicles.
What Will I Learn?
You’ll work side-by-side with expert technicians in a busy, modern workshop, learning real-world skills that set you up for a long-term career.
You’ll be:
- Hands-on from day one.
- Gaining high-level technical knowledge and practical experience.
- Working exclusively on iconic BMW Motorrad bikes, engines, and diagnostic equipment.
Your Qualification: Complete a Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician qualification over a 36-month period, combining on-the-job training with specialist learning blocks at the manufacturer's Academy.

You’ll need (or expect to achieve):
- National 4 or above in English, Maths, and Science or a Craft subject (Standard Grades 1–4 and Intermediates accepted)
