Tarmac Reinstator / Patching Operative
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Reinstator / Patching Operative to carry out high-quality tarmac patching and reinstatement works across highways, footways, and other paved surfaces. The successful candidate will ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required specification, maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out tarmac patching works on roads, footpaths, car parks, and other paved surfaces.
- Prepare repair areas by cutting out defective material, cleaning excavations, and preparing the base for reinstatement.
- Lay, level, and compact asphalt and tarmac materials to achieve a durable, high-quality finish.
- Operate plant and equipment including cut-off saws, rollers, compactors, breakers, and other reinstatement tools.
- Ensure all patching works comply with company procedures, client specifications, and industry standards.
- Carry out daily vehicle and equipment checks and report any defects.
- Maintain a safe working environment, following all Health & Safety legislation and company policies.
- Accurately complete job sheets, work records, and material usage documentation.
- Work effectively as part of a team and communicate professionally with supervisors, colleagues, and members of the public.
- Ensure work sites are left clean, safe, and fully reinstated on completion.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience carrying out tarmac patching and reinstatement works.
- Experience using asphalt laying and compaction equipment.
- Good understanding of highway maintenance and reinstatement techniques.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a busy operational environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality repairs.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- NRSWA (Street Works) accreditation.
- CSCS card.
- CPCS or NPORS plant operator certification.
- HGV licence (advantageous).

Pay: From £36,400.00 per year
