Our Place Annan is looking for enthusiastic and reliable people to join our kitchen team.
We are currently recruiting for:
- An experienced Cook
- A Kitchen Assistant/Kitchen Porter
Our Place is a busy, relaxed restaurant in the centre of Annan, serving freshly prepared breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. Our menu includes traditional favourites, burgers, steaks, fish dishes, pasta, Sunday roasts, lighter meals and homemade-style desserts.
Cook
We are looking for an experienced and dependable chef who can work confidently as part of a small kitchen team and help maintain consistently high standards.
Main responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes from our main, lunch, breakfast and Sunday menus.
- Working independently on an allocated kitchen section during service.
- Completing food preparation and ensuring ingredients are ready before service.
- Maintaining consistent portion sizes, presentation and food quality.
- Following food-safety, hygiene and allergen procedures at all times.
- Preparing dishes for customers with dietary requirements carefully and accurately.
- Checking deliveries and ensuring food is labelled, dated, stored and rotated correctly.
- Helping manage stock levels and minimise unnecessary food waste.
- Keeping all kitchen areas, equipment and storage spaces clean and organised.
- Supporting other members of the kitchen team during busy services.
- Assisting with specials, menu development and training less-experienced team members where required.
What we are looking for
- Previous experience working as a chef or cook in a restaurant, hotel, pub or similarly busy kitchen.
- The ability to prepare and cook food consistently while working under pressure.
- Good organisation, time management and communication.
- A reliable and professional attitude.
- A good understanding of food hygiene and allergen awareness.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
- A food-hygiene qualification is preferred, although training can be provided where appropriate.
Kitchen Assistant/Kitchen Porter
We are also looking for a hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support the chefs and help keep the kitchen operating safely and efficiently.
Previous kitchen experience would be helpful, but it is not essential for the right person. Reliability, cleanliness and a willingness to work are more important.
Main responsibilities
- Washing dishes, cooking equipment, utensils and kitchen containers.
- Keeping the pot-wash, preparation areas, floors and storage areas clean and tidy.
- Carrying out basic food preparation such as washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients.
- Helping chefs prepare for service and replenishing ingredients when required.
- Unpacking deliveries and storing products correctly.
- Following food-safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
- Emptying bins and dealing with waste safely and correctly.
- Helping with closing-down and deep-cleaning duties.
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy periods.
- Completing any reasonable kitchen duties requested by the chef or manager.
