ABM is currently recruiting for a Shift Operation Technician for an immediate start in Airbus, Belfast.
Purpose: To operate and maintain all site main utilities within a team that supports production requirements at our client’s site in Belfast.
To carryout, within competency levels, planned maintenance, fault finding, repair on a range of utility plant systems and equipment.
To ensure that all equipment within ABM’s control is correctly maintained and repaired, maximising plant efficiency and the safety of all personnel at all times. To maintain and improve standards of health and safety, quality and good housekeeping and to report any short comings promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, routine servicing and inspection to all mechanical plant, electrical equipment and instrumentation within the portfolio.
- Issue Permit to Works and Isolation Permits for both site team and sub-contractors.
- To safely operate and maintain all utilities under ABM’s control, ensuring100% service delivery is supplied to the client under contract KPIs.
- Provide effective feed back to the Operational/Shift Supervisors to ensure that they are aware of any Facilities/System/Equipment/Site Engineering abnormalities.
- Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental requirements that are defined on work instructions or communicated in training.
- Follow required emergency procedures as documented and to respond accordingly during emergency situations.
- Complete shift logs, handovers in an efficient manner to meet business requirements.
- Use Safe System of Work to accommodate all tasks including Permit To Work System and Risk assessments.
- Liaise with client to ensure that equipment issues are dealt with professionally and efficiently.
- Maintain a continuous improvement environment focussed on client needs.
- To ensure that the site utilities being managed are available to support the clients production requirements.
- To develop and ensure that the planned preventative maintenance schedules are completed in the agreed timeframes.
- To ensure records of work carried out are recorded on the clients CAFM System.
- Provide absence and holiday cover within the site team as required.
- Report all accidents, occupational illnesses and emergencies.
- To take responsibility for defects and follow up on any repairs
- To be self-motivated and proactively seek out work.
- Act as a point of contact for Helpdesk/Reactive calls.
- As directed by the Operational Supervisor, undertake tasks not listed above, but for which you have the skills, knowledge or competency, to perform effectively in a safe manner.

Skills and Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Electrical or Mechanical Trade experience with a formal qualification (ONC/OND/NVQ Level 3) or above in a related engineering discipline.
- NEBOSH/IOSH desirable
Essential Criteria:
- 3 Years operational experience across different industrial sectors. Operating within a regulated environment.
- Demonstrate an ability to motivate and drive continuous improvement.
- Must be able to demonstrate PC Skills covering the full range of MS office suite platforms.
- Experience of Health & Safety procedures (PTW/LOTO/MSRA)
Desired Experience:
- Electrical LV Competent or Mechanical Fitter experience
- Knowledge of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work
Desired Skills:
- Proven ability to fault find and problem solve both electrical or mechanical faults
- Fulfil all requirements of service agreements on site(s) and works towards a “first time fix” where appropriate
- Work well with others, helping to generate a positive team atmosphere
- Take ownership of personal development
- Take responsibility for their own Health & Safety, comply with all relevant regulations.
- Maintain quality relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
- Identify opportunities to diversify or increase contractual services.
- Report to the Site Supervisor and Site Manager on KPI performance.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with client management.
