Customer Service and Sales Assistant
The Customer Service and Sales Assistant role is a public-facing position supporting nationally recognised charity campaigns through in-store promotions, live events, community activity, and local business engagement.
You’ll work directly with members of the public, providing clear information, answering questions, and guiding conversations toward meaningful outcomes. The role blends customer service with ethical sales, focusing on positive experiences, transparency, and long-term support for important causes.
This is an entry-level opportunity with full training provided, ideal for people who enjoy working with others and want to develop communication and customer-focused skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role is centred around supporting live charity campaigns in real-world environments, where you’ll act as the main point of contact for members of the public.
On a typical day, you’ll be positioned within a retail or event space, engaging people as they pass through. Rather than delivering a scripted pitch, you’ll hold natural, two-way conversations — answering questions, listening to concerns, and helping people understand the purpose of the campaign you’re representing.
You’ll spend time:
- Helping people understand why the campaign exists and the type of support it provides
- Explaining how public contributions are used and what ongoing support enables the charity to deliver
- Recognising when someone is genuinely interested and taking the time to walk them through how they can get involved
- Ensuring anyone who chooses to support does so with full clarity around contribution amounts, ongoing commitments, and supporter rights
Accuracy and trust are essential. You’ll be responsible for capturing supporter details correctly using digital systems and ensuring every interaction reflects the professionalism of the campaign.
Alongside public engagement, you’ll work closely with your team — attending briefings, sharing feedback from conversations, and adapting your approach as campaigns evolve. Some days may also include supporting awareness activity with local businesses or helping with the setup and breakdown of campaign spaces.
The role balances customer service, communication, and outcome-focused engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys speaking with people and seeing tangible results from their work.
Training & Progression
You’ll receive structured onboarding, hands-on coaching, and ongoing development. High performers can progress into senior customer support roles, campaign leadership, or training positions.
