GAP Group (North East) Ltd is expanding and is looking to recruit two experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineers to support our recycling and processing operations across multiple sites.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business where no two days are the same. The successful candidates will work as part of a small engineering team responsible for maintaining and improving a range of recycling and processing plant equipment.
As part of the role, engineers will participate in a 6-week rotation, spending one week at our Scottish plant supporting operations and providing out-of-hours on-call cover during evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and rectify electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across plant and recycling equipment.
- Fault find and repair electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Service and maintain machinery including conveyors, shredders, hammermills, motors and gearboxes.
- Change bearings, motors, gearboxes, conveyor belts, shredder teeth and associated components.
- Calibrate, inspect and test plant equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Carry out fault finding on three-phase electrical systems.
- Keep management and operational teams updated on maintenance progress.
- Participate in the on-call rota and Scottish site rotation.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' engineering maintenance experience.
- Electrical bias or strong multi-skilled background.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment such as Fluke and Megger.
- Strong fault-finding skills on electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience working with three-phase electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Welding experience.
- Experience using burning/cutting equipment.
- Previous experience within recycling, manufacturing, waste, aggregates, heavy industry or processing environments.
