Overview
This role will commence on 4th September 2026. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to work alongside children in a nurturing environment. The role involves supporting children's activities, assisting with meal preparation, and ensuring a safe and engaging atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with young people and possess relevant skills in food preparation and safety. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in childcare and culinary tasks within a supportive team setting.
Duties
- Assist children during activities, ensuring their safety and engagement at all times
- Preparation and cooking, adhering to food safety standards
- Cook and serve meals, ensuring proper presentation and hygiene and following allergy protocols
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces
- Support the planning and execution of educational or recreational activities for children
- Monitor children during meal times, encouraging good manners and behaviour
- Assist with setting up activity spaces and preparing materials needed for daily programmes
- Document daily in the food diary
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking is essential; training will be provided
- Experience working with children in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting is advantageous
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards is preferred. You will be required to have level 2 food hygiene and allergy awareness training. This can be arranged by us
- Experience in a restaurant or catering environment, including serving or meal organisation, is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating patience, organisation, and enthusiasm for working with children

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
