The Hinchliffe Arms is looking for a friendly, confident and hardworking Bartender / Front of House Team Member to join our team at our countryside pub in Cragg Vale.
We’re looking for someone with a great attitude who enjoys working with people and wants to develop their skills within hospitality.
Previous bar or hospitality experience would definitely be a bonus, but it isn’t essential. We’re more than happy to invest time in training the right person if you’re determined, reliable and willing to put the work in.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will include:
- Serving beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks
- Learning how to prepare and serve cocktails to a high standard
- Providing friendly and professional table service
- Taking food and drink orders
- Using the till and confidently handling cash and card payments
- Keeping the bar and customer areas clean, organised and well presented
- Restocking the bar and preparing for service
- Learning our opening and closing procedures
- Helping with both opening and closing shifts
- Providing excellent customer service and making guests feel welcome
- Working alongside the rest of the team during busy food and drink services
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and confident with customers
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable handling money
- Willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a busy pub environment
- Happy to work evenings and weekends
- Interested in learning about cocktails, drinks and hospitality
- Able to use their initiative and stay productive during quieter periods
Experience is a bonus – attitude is more important to us.
If you don’t know how to make cocktails yet, that’s fine. If you’ve never opened or closed a pub before, that’s fine too. We’ll provide training and help you build those skills.

Training & Development
We want the successful applicant to become a confident and capable member of our team, so training can include:
- Cocktail making
- Bar service
- Table service
- Till operation and cash handling
- Opening and closing procedures
- Customer service
- Drinks knowledge
- General front-of-house responsibilities
There will be opportunities to take on more responsibility as your confidence and experience develop.
