Job Overview
The role involves undertaking a variety of driving duties across contracts held by the company. This includes collections from charity shops, private properties, waste amenity sites, and standalone clothing banks located in streets or car parks. The driver will be responsible for collecting, loading, and unloading textile items manually throughout locations in Ireland. Strong multitasking abilities and effective time management skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all Health & Safety guidelines across retail shops and waste amenity sites recognising that each location may have its own induction procedures.
Represent the company in a professional and positive manner when interacting with shop managers, staff, and waste site employees.
Maintain courteous, diplomatic, and cooperative working relationships with colleagues, partners, and suppliers at all times
Maintain high service delivery standards in line with company policy to support contract retention.
Complete daily collections within designated timeframes, with flexibility to work beyond standard hours when required to meet customer commitments.
Safely handle textiles during loading and unloading to ensure items remain in good condition.
Ensure all loads are securely and safely stowed.
Provide accurate reports of completed activities and promptly communicate any issues to the line manager.
Maintain up-to-date logbooks and issue collection/delivery receipts as required.
Wear provided protective clothing and footwear at all times.
Take responsibility for personal and others’ Health & Safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Keep the vehicle clean, roadworthy, and comfortable to operate.
Report any vehicle faults or concerns to the line manager without delay.
Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and support wider organisational needs as required.
Work flexibly, including occasional weekend work when necessary.
Comply with tachograph regulations at all times (where applicable).
Ensure accurate collection data is recorded and shared with suppliers and the office.
Due to the operational needs and demands of the business, you may be required to travel and undertake overnight stays at various locations throughout Ireland from time to time.
Driver Requirements
Physically fit and capable of heavy lifting and manual handling.
Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
Friendly, approachable, and professional, particularly when interacting with charity shop staff, volunteers, and site employees.
Valid UK driving licence
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
Candidates must also be 25 years and above
