Saffron Walden Conservatives are looking for 18 Saffron Walden residents to stand for Saffron Walden Town Council in 2027. Candidates will be supported in their roles, and those applying with have opportunities to progress their careers in politics. You must have conservative values and a keen interest in Saffron Walden to stand for election as a Conservative.
The Town Councillor plays a vital role in representing the interests of local residents and contributing to the development and well-being of the community. This position involves participating in council meetings, making informed decisions on local policies, and advocating for community needs. Candidates should possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to public service. Duties
- Attend regular council meetings to discuss and decide on local issues, policies, and projects
- Collaborate with fellow councillors, community organisations, and residents to identify priorities and develop initiatives
- Lead or participate in community projects, including organising events or programmes that benefit local residents
- Oversee budgeting processes and ensure responsible management of public funds
- Engage with the public through social media management and outreach activities to promote community involvement
- Supervise volunteers or staff involved in community programmes or campaigns
- Assist with fundraising efforts to support local services and infrastructure improvements
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to stand for elections in Saffron Walden (live in Town or within 3 miles of it)
