Pillgwenlly Primary School are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to work with pupils across the school supporting teaching and learning and wellbeing. This position is offered on a permanent basis. As a Level 3 teaching assistant you will be expected to plan and lead intervention groups and will also be used for short term cover of classes.
Pillgwenlly Primary School has very recently moved into a brand-new building. The new school serves a multicultural and multilingual community in the heart of a diverse inner-city community within Newport, South Wales and enjoys excellent facilities which benefit the pupils and supports community engagement. This extensive three-form entry school provides education for children aged 3 to 11 years and has a 20-place generic Additional Learning Needs Resource Base. The school is within the John Frost cluster of primary schools.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with primary age pupils who has a proven track record of developing excellent relationships and applying the principles of nurture to their work. Knowledge and experience of supporting teaching and learning through planning for group work, intervention groups and taking the lead role within a class when required would be an advantage. We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible individual to support the work of the school who is willing to learn. You must be calm and approachable and passionate about wanting each child to experience success every day and have the knowledge, skills and experience to contribute to the work of the wider school team.
Full training will be provided to ensure that you are able to meet the needs of the children effectively as part of the wider school team.
If successful you can expect to work as part of a highly supportive team who work together to support a wide range of diverse needs across the school. You will have access to bespoke support both within school and if necessary from outside of the school to enable you to thrive in your role. The role requires you to attend a staff meeting weekly which will be part of your contracted hours.
