About Gym 01
Gym 01 is one of the UK's leading independent martial arts and fitness facilities, operating 24 hours a day and serving thousands of members across our gym, combat sports and youth programmes.
Alongside our award-winning training facilities, Fuel Café provides healthy food, drinks and refreshments that form an important part of the member experience.
As we continue to grow towards the end of 2026 and beyond, we're looking to strengthen our leadership team by recruiting an experienced Team Leader who can take ownership, develop people and help drive operational excellence.
We're not looking for someone who simply manages shifts.
We're looking for someone who naturally leads people.
The Role
This is a varied operational leadership role covering the day-to-day running of Gym 01 while supporting the continued success of Fuel Café.
You'll be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, leading the front-of-house team, supporting membership growth, ensuring operational standards remain consistently high and helping develop those around you.
You'll spend your time leading from the front rather than sitting behind a desk.
If you've previously worked in a busy gym, leisure facility, hospitality business or customer-focused operation, this role will feel familiar.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead shifts and be the senior member of staff on duty
- Coach, motivate and support front-of-house team members
- Maintain high operational standards by leading from the front
- Support the onboarding and development of new staff
- Deliver outstanding member experiences every day
Member Services & Sales
- Welcome members and visitors professionally
- Convert enquiries into memberships
- Support retention through exceptional customer service
- Handle membership enquiries, upgrades and cancellations
- Build strong relationships with members
Operations
- Assist in the smooth running of Fuel Café
- Support stock management, ordering and wastage control
- Ensure food hygiene and health & safety standards are maintained
- Complete opening, closing and security procedures
- Carry out facility checks and report maintenance issues
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout the facility
Systems & Administration
Ideally you'll already have experience using:
- Clubwise
- Square POS
- ConnectTeam
Experience using these systems isn't essential, but it would be a significant advantage.
You'll also be confident using:
- Microsoft Office
- Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Docs and Sheets)
- Email and CRM systems
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor or Duty Manager
- Has experience leading people in hospitality, leisure, fitness or retail
- Is naturally organised and takes ownership without being asked
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Can make decisions confidently under pressure
- Leads by example and enjoys helping others improve
- Takes pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards
- Wants to build a long-term career within a growing business
Essential Experience
- Minimum two years' experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or Management role
- Experience in hospitality, fitness, leisure or customer service
- Strong IT skills
Desirable Experience
- Clubwise
- Square POS
- ConnectTeam
- Google Workspace
- Food hygiene qualifications
- Fitness or leisure industry experience
