Shift Pattern: Night shifts, ranging from weekdays and weekends
The production operative will be expected to set up and operate all productions within the relevant department within Newsprinters. Additionally, the operative is required to work flexibly as part of a team to meet the business needs.
At all times, the operative will ensure that bundle and finished pallet is of optimum quality and that finished product will be loaded on to the correct vehicle in a safe and appropriate manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure pre and post-production run checks are carried out and any equipment and product faults or defects reported.
- Prior to production check that all equipment is set up in production/run mode and that all required production Data is input and correct.
- Ensure that machines are loaded and replenished with sufficient supplies of materials and required stock levels.
- Monitoring product presentation and quality checks throughout the production run.
- Clearing jams, fixing minor machine faults as trained to minimise disruption to production within the health and safety guidelines.
- To assist in the manual movement of product in the event of equipment failure.
- Complete post run checks and cleaning of machinery and equipment is to a high standard.
- Assist in the transporting of printing plates out to the press lines and fit as instructed.
- Keep area and machines clean and tidy and dispose of waste in line with health and safety standards.
- Support training of new staff members
You should meet the following criteria:
- You must have Right to Work in the UK.
- Ability to work night shifts is essential
- Experience working within production, maintenance, loading or manufacturing is preferred for this role
- Required to work flexibly as part of a team to meet the business needs.
- Ability to work safely.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Previous experience of using production equipment is desirable.
