Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Alternative Provision Coach to support young people in an educational setting.
The AP Coach at Shaped has responsibility for supporting the learning and personal development of all the students based at a Shaped Centre. They work with the AP Lead to look ahead for opportunities to promote learning and growth in line with students identified needs. This will all be underpinned by the Shaped Values.
This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on young people's lives through personalised mentoring and tailored educational programmes. The position is suitable for individuals passionate about working with children and young people, particularly those with experience or interest in special education and youth work.
Duties
- Deliver personalised educational programmes tailored to the needs of individual students within alternative provision settings
- Support students in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills through mentoring and coaching
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies to monitor student progress and well-being
- Encourage positive behaviour and provide guidance to help students achieve their personal goals
- Support students during session, activities, and break times to promote engagement and participation
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour for reporting purposes
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of activities that promote personal development and life skills
Skills
- Experience or background in teaching, youth work, or mentoring roles is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of working with children, including those with special educational needs
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young people
- Compassionate approach with patience and resilience in challenging situations
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies is essential

The role is a term-time only contract ( 39weeks pre year plus paid holidays)
Pro rata Salary £21,625
Pay: £25,185.00 per year
