We have a vacancy within our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Department and are currently recruiting for the role of EHS Technician on the Day Shift. We are looking for candidates who have relevant and proven experience seeking an opportunity to develop their skills and join a growing Organisation. This role will have responsibility in two separate locations, as detailed below.
Shift Pattern: 39 hours each week with a flexible starting time between 07:00 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, with a flexible finish time between 16:00 and 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and on a Friday, a finish time of 12.00. You will be entitled to a 30-minute unpaid lunch break between 12:00 and 12:30 Monday to Thursday. Additionally, you will have a 10-minute paid break each morning Monday to Friday and a 10-minute paid break each afternoon Monday to Thursday.
Location: Accrofab Derby – DE21 7RX and Accrofab Alcester - B49 6EH
Role Accountabilities:

Support the maintenance and audit of the environmental, health & safety management systems in line with ISO14001 and ISO45001

Maintenance of the EHS KPI’s at required frequencies

Support the implementation of delegated walk the floor routines to control and improve the performance of EHS in line with required targets and standards

Participate in “Job Safety Observations” (JSO) according to a rolling schedule and use them as a practical and interactive way to complete parts of the audit routine, including coverage of any “critical” safety processes (for example, observe employees perform a lock-out / tag-out operation, then ensure machine cannot be started)

Support the identification of actual or potential problems (variations to the required target or standard) and taking the necessary actions to contain, solve or escalate these problems within an appropriate timescale by engaging others

Participate in Walk the Floor routines to report on findings against the environmental, health & safety elements, identify problems and support the business in getting these resolved in a timely manner

Support investigation, problem-solving and follow-up of environmental, health & safety issues (corrects behaviours, stops repetitive accidents, and identifies potential causes of accidents before they happen)

Support the creation and review of Risk assessments in line with current legislation
EHS Compliance

Be always prepared for audits through the maintenance of environmental, health & safety processes, procedures and effective walk the floor routines

Support the effective application of the Accrofab “Environmental Health and Safety Model” to create a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant place of work, and a culture which promotes adherence to these principles

Support process compliance audits to identify, contain and correct potential environmental, health & safety issues

Support the maintenance of a Walk the Floor process for environmental, health & safety audit points, to be checked at defined frequencies (several times a day, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
From time to time, you may be required to perform other duties as requested by your Line Manager, and whilst not listed above, these duties will be appropriate to the level of responsibility held and to the scope of the role as defined.

Participate in “Lean Events” to improve any aspect of performance associated with Environmental Health & Safety

Support employee engagement through regular promotional and participative events such as “Accident-Free Months” and “EHS Awareness Talks”.
