About the role
At Croft, we believe technology should work for our customers, not against them — and nowhere is that more important than in the schools we support every day. As a School IT Technician, you'll be the on-the-ground expert keeping a school's IT systems running smoothly, so teachers can teach and students can learn without disruption.
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day technology that powers the classroom — from Windows PCs and iPads to Chromebooks and Google Workspace — while acting as the vital link between the school and Croft's wider engineering team when things need extra firepower.
What you'll be doing
● Providing onsite support for the school's IT systems, networks and end-user devices
● Carrying out proactive and reactive maintenance on hardware, operating systems and core applications
● Monitoring and troubleshooting network and system performance, escalating where needed
● Managing accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Google Workspace
● Deploying and configuring Windows PCs, iPads and Chromebooks for staff and students
● Keeping accurate records of IT assets, software licences and configuration changes
● Logging, updating and resolving tasks and incidents within SLA
● Working alongside school IT staff and Croft engineers to resolve more complex issues
● Upholding safeguarding and data protection standards in everything you do
● Supporting the wider Education Service desk or Croft Professional Services/IT Service Desk when not on-site
What you'll bring
● Experience supporting Windows Desktop and Windows Server environments
● A working knowledge of DHCP, DNS, Group Policy and Active Directory
● Familiarity with setting up and deploying iPads and Chromebooks
● Strong troubleshooting instincts and a genuine love of solving problems
● The people skills to support non-technical staff and students with patience and clarity
● A proactive, organised approach to managing multiple priorities
● Previous experience in an education IT environment is a bonus, not a must
You'll also need:
● GCSEs or equivalent (preferred)
● Windows Server experience and/or IT certifications such as CompTIA or Microsoft (advantageous)
● An enhanced DBS and barred list check
● A full UK driving licence and access to a car
