Assistant General Manager – Lindores
Lindores is an award-winning, diversified, family-run rural business based in Fife, Scotland. We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused and highly organised Assistant General Manager to help manage and grow our hospitality, tourism and equestrian enterprises on this beautiful 550 acre farm.
Reporting directly to Anna & Richard, the two Owners and Managers, this is a hands-on management role with significant responsibility across sales, marketing, customer experience, events and operations.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership, use their initiative and turn plans into action. You will manage the Admin & Events Assistant and play an important role in the continued growth and development of Lindores.
Our Business
The role works across three key areas:
- Lindores Stay - Four individually designed luxury rural holiday houses
- The Hide & The Barley House – exclusive-use venues for farm tours, private events and food & drink experiences.
- Lindores Equestrian – an award-winning, BHS Approved training centre with 36 stables for hosts to run camps, clinics and riders to book private hire or horse holidays.
Shortlisted in 2025, 2024 and 2023 for Best Unique Stay & Experience at Regional VisitScotland ThistleAwards. Winner of the TV Programme BBC Scotland’s Greatest Escape Series 2: Foodie Episode. Future growth includes developing our ‘farm to fork’ and ‘seed to sip’ experiences to international travel trade and corporate markets, alongside introduction of retail.
Sales & Customer Experience
- Manage customer enquiries from initial contact through to booking and post-visit feedback.
- Proactively drive sales, conversion and added-value experiences.
- Developing and nurturing relationships with suppliers, tourism partners, travel trade, corporate clients, contractors and other commercial partners. Collaboration is key at Lindores.
- Host guests and groups, including leading tours and handling customer requirements confidently.
- Responsible for bookings, occupancy, sales performance and customer feedback.
Marketing & Business Development
- Co-develop and deliver marketing and campaign plans.
- Manage digital marketing including email, social media and website content
- Co-develop experiences.
- Manage CRM activity and use customer and marketing data to improve performance.
- Identify new opportunities & collaborations.
Operations & Events
- Plan and coordinate events, experiences and operational activity from booking through to delivery.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, contractors and the Lindores team to ensure smooth delivery. Nurture our ‘local hero’s’ that help make Fife a destination of choice.
- Maintain effective operational systems, procedures, risk assessments and compliance records.
- Ensure bookkeeping is completed accurately and timely for monthly VAT returns.
- Manage relevant stock, inventory and business administration.
People & Management
- Directly manage and develop the Admin & Events Assistant.
- Prioritise and allocate work, ensuring deadlines and standards are achieved.
- Work closely with the Owners to deliver agreed business priorities and projects.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day operational decisions within agreed parameters.
- Lead by example as a positive, practical and customer-focused member.
The Person We Are Looking For
You will be:
- Highly organised, trustworthy and dependable with excellent attention to detail.
- Commercially minded, proactive and confident taking responsibility.
- An excellent communicator with strong customer service and hosting skills.
- Creative, practical and able to take ideas from concept through to delivery.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively on a diversified farm.
An understanding of the countryside, environment and animals is important, and equine knowledge and terminology would be highly advantageous.
A full UK driving licence is required, together with a willingness to drive 4x4 vehicles.
Skills & Experience
We are particularly interested in experience across:
- Hospitality, tourism, events, sales or customer experience.
- Operational and stakeholder management
- Business administration and performance monitoring.
- Equestrian industry
- Digital business systems such as Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, SuperControl, WordPress and Google Analytics.
You do not need to know every system. A willingness to learn, be customer focused and the confidence to get 'stuck in' and take ownership are more important.
Working Pattern & Package
Full-time | Salary £29,000–£36,000 depending on experience
Lindores operates seven days a week, so flexibility is required for some weekend working, events, peak periods and holiday cover. Working patterns vary seasonally and will be planned in advance wherever possible.
The package includes pension contributions, 28 days holiday entitlement, free on-site parking, a performance related bonus and opportunities for personal development. Use of our award-winning equestrian facilities may also be negotiable as part of the package.
