We are now seeking a caring and dedicated Residential Care Worker to join our Oldham team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate childcare professional to make a genuine impact on young lives.
The Role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support within the home, acting as a positive role model for the young people. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support & Guidance for Young People – Helping young people develop essential life skills such as budgeting, personal care, and independence, while promoting their emotional wellbeing.
- Day-to-Day Care – Supporting young people with daily routines, activities, education, and appointments, and creating a warm, homely atmosphere.
- Health & Safety – Maintaining a safe and secure home by following health and safety protocols and contributing to risk assessments.
- Collaboration – Working in partnership with parents, carers, social workers, and other professionals to deliver tailored support plans for each young person.
- Record Keeping – Maintaining accurate daily logs, reports, and care records in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Personal Development – Engaging in continuous training and professional development to remain up to date with best practices in residential childcare.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Previous experience in residential childcare, child protection, or a similar setting is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
- Knowledge: An understanding of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015, the Children Act, Quality Standards, and Children's Rights (or a willingness to learn).
- Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and teamwork abilities.
- Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, resilience, and a calm, proactive approach to challenges.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including sleep-ins, weekends, and holidays.
- Desirable: A full UK driving licence.
