This is far more than a traditional Damp & Mould Surveyor role . You'll investigate technically challenging building defects, diagnose root causes, manage specialist repairs and play a key role in ensuring our residents live in safe, healthy homes. Working across our housing portfolio, you'll help shape our response to Awaab's Law while supporting customers through some of the most complex repair cases we manage.

As a Damp & Mould Surveyor, you'll be responsible for Investigating and managing complex building defects by:
Investigating damp and mould cases in accordance with Awaab's Law
Diagnosing the root cause of defects using evidence-based surveying techniques
Investigating water ingress, roofing defects, rainwater goods, drainage failures, condensation, ventilation performance, thermal bridging, timber decay and wider building fabric deterioration
Undertaking detailed inspections across occupied residential properties
Producing technical reports, specifications and schedules of work using the NHF Schedule of Rates
Managing specialist contractors throughout the repair process
Undertaking pre and post inspections to ensure works are completed to the required quality standard
Supporting housing disrepair claims, complaints and Housing Ombudsman investigations
Providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues across the organisation
Ensuring recommendations resolve the underlying cause of defects rather than simply treating symptoms
You will join:
Our Specialist Repairs Team, working alongside experienced Surveyors and Contract Managers to deliver technically robust repair solutions across Midland Heart's housing portfolio.
You'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of complex residential building defects, helping ensure our homes remain safe, compliant and fit for the future.
Our Ideal Candidate? We're looking for professionals with:
Experience undertaking residential building surveying, housing surveying or specialist property inspections
Experience investigating building defects, damp and mould, housing disrepair or building pathology
Experience producing technical reports, specifications and schedules of work
A recognised qualification in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline together with a HHSRS Qualification and full membership to either RICS or CIOB
Please note - if you do not hold a full chartered membership then we can still consider your application for this role, however you will be considered at a lower salary point.
