Join a Growing Commercial Fit-Out Contractor
Onyx DB is a specialist design and build fit-out contractor delivering high-quality commercial, hospitality and leisure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team based in Preston.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor with at least 5 years' experience, strong knowledge of JCT contracts, and experience in commercial fit-out, retail, hospitality or refurbishment projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of multiple fit-out projects from tender handover to final account.
- Procure and appoint subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare, negotiate and administer subcontract agreements.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost reporting (CVRs).
- Prepare and submit client valuations and payment applications.
- Price and negotiate project variations.
- Certify subcontractor applications and manage cash flow.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts.
- Identify and manage commercial risks throughout projects.
- Provide commercial advice to operational teams.
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Travel to project sites across the UK as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.
- Experience within commercial fit-out, retail, hospitality or interior refurbishment.
- Strong knowledge of JCT forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple fast-track projects simultaneously.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction Management.
- Experience producing CVRs and financial reporting.
- Experience working for a principal contractor.
