Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Jazz Dance Teacher to join our dance school
for the slot between 6-8pm on Tuesdays during term time. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging jazz dance classes to both a children's/preteen class and an adult classes of various ages and skill levels. This role offers an excellent opportunity to inspire dancers, foster their technical skills, and cultivate a love for jazz dance in a supportive, friendly and small-school environment. The position is paid and suitable for both experienced professionals and aspiring teachers eager to develop their teaching expertise.
Duties
- Plan and deliver dynamic jazz dance classes tailored to different age groups and proficiency levels.
- Demonstrate technical dance skills, including rhythm, coordination, and musicality, to students.
- Provide constructive feedback to encourage student progress and confidence.
- Create a positive, encouraging and inclusive classroom atmosphere that motivates students to excel.
- Prepare class materials, warm-up routines, and choreography.
- Monitor student attendance and progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all classes and rehearsals.
- Participate in termly staff meetings, and in house training where necessary.
Skills
- Proven relevant dance and/or teaching qualifications as well as experience in teaching jazz dance.
- Strong knowledge of dance techniques, choreography, and musical interpretation specific to jazz dance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Organised with the ability to plan engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning needs.
- Creative flair for developing innovative routines and teaching approaches.
- A passion for dance education and fostering a positive learning environment.
- Naturally friendly, encouraging and good at creating a safe learning environment.
Candidates with previous teaching experience or formal dance qualifications will be highly regarded. This role provides an opportunity to share your love of jazz dance while contributing positively to the growth of aspiring dancers in a professional setting.
Pay: £20.00-£25.00 per hour
