Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring the smooth operation of the counter area. Responsibilities
- Serve customers promptly and courteously at the counter, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Assist with food preparation, including assembling orders and maintaining cleanliness in the food area
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the POS system and provide correct change
- Maintain stock levels at the counter, restocking supplies as needed
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times
- Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service
- Keep the counter area clean, organised, and presentable throughout shifts
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple customers promptly during peak hours
Skills
- Experience in food service or restaurant environment preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and giving correct change
- Food preparation skills and kitchen experience are advantageous
- Culinary experience is a plus for understanding menu items and assisting with food assembly
- Strong time management skills to handle high-volume periods efficiently
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour when engaging with customers
- Ability to upsell menu items tactfully to enhance customer satisfaction and sales performance
