Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated HGV Class 1 Night Driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) Class 1 with a double deck trailer during night shifts, ensuring timely arrival at a designated hub and return. Your expertise in commercial driving, combined with a proactive attitude, will help us maintain our high standards of service and safety. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class 1 heavy goods vehicle during night shifts, adhering strictly to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck’s safety and compliance with legal requirements
- Check the loaded cargo to ensure stability and security of the load,
- Plan efficient routes to meet arrival and departure schedules while maintaining compliance with driving hours regulations
- Complete accurate delivery documentation, including logs, manifests, and delivery paperwork
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding statuses or any issues encountered on route
- Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with clients, warehouse staff, and other stakeholders
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, preferably with flatbed cargo handling experience
- Strong understanding of road safety laws and regulations related to large vehicle operation
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading and securing cargo on bed
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with UK road networks or relevant local routes
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards customers and team members
- Flexibility to work night shifts consistently and adapt to changing schedules
