Activities / Enablement Worker
Whiteford House
Whiteford House is a 31-bedded care home supporting adults aged 18–65 with continuing mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries, learning disabilities and long-term life-limiting conditions.
We are looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic and motivated Activities / Enablement Worker to join our dedicated team.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting residents to live meaningful, active and fulfilling lives. You will work closely with residents to identify their interests, strengths and personal goals, helping them to develop skills, build confidence and maintain their independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Must hold a full UK driving licence.
- Plan and organise a varied programme of meaningful activities based on individual interests, abilities, needs and goals.
- Support residents to identify and work towards personal goals that promote independence, confidence and wellbeing.
- Provide opportunities for residents to develop and maintain life skills and participate in the wider community.
- Organise and support a variety of activities including games, arts and crafts, exercise, music, social events, shopping, outings and community activities.
- Provide one-to-one support where required, adapting activities to suit individual needs and abilities.
- Encourage residents to try new experiences and develop new interests while respecting their choices and preferences.
- Support residents with community access and assist with transportation to and from activities.
- Work closely with support staff to ensure that individual goals are understood and consistently supported throughout the home.
- Liaise with colleagues and other professionals where appropriate to ensure activities and enablement plans are person-centred and meaningful.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, participation, progress and achievements.
- Review activities regularly and seek feedback from residents to ensure the programme remains enjoyable, relevant and inclusive.
- Promote positive relationships, social inclusion and a sense of achievement amongst residents.

- Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Confident supporting residents within the community and holds a full UK driving licence.
