Relief/Temporary Support Worker (Children's Support Worker)

Our client is seeking compassionate, reliable, and adaptable Relief/Temporary Support Workers to join their team in the Bridgend area. This flexible role allows you to choose shifts that fit your schedule, making it ideal for students, parents, or those with other commitments. As a Children's Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential, promote independence, and ensure their safety and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children and young people in daily activities and interests
- Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips with the children
- Assist with weekend and evening activities, such as climbing, baking, or trips to leisure centres
- Promote independence and wellbeing of young persons
- Protect children from health and welfare risks
- Provide emotional and practical support within the home
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of care plans and guidelines
- Support children in managing challenging behaviour and minimise incidents
Essential Requirements:
- Strong relationship-building skills and resilience
- Understanding of trauma, homelessness, and domestic abuse impacts
- Crisis response attitude and emotional resilience
- Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
- At least 6 months of experience working with children or in a social care setting
- TMVA – Restraint Training Certificate or willingness to undertake training
- Valid UK driving licence
- Current Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
- Additional social care qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3/5
