Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular emphasis on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for crafting delicious and visually appealing sushi dishes that delight our customers.
Duties
- Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and care.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, high-quality, and properly stored according to food safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment. Assist the team with cleaning mat all times.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
- Stay updated on current culinary trends in sushi preparation and presentation.
- Provide exceptional service by engaging with customers when necessary, sharing knowledge about the menu items.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant setting.
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on sushi preparation; formal culinary training is an advantage.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills.
- A passion for Japanese cuisine and willingness to learn new techniques.
