Yard Manager – Join Our Growing Team
Location: Hoo, Rochester
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm
Pay: Starting from £13.77 per hour

The Metal Collective is a small, family-run business based in Hoo, Rochester, specialising in the fabrication of structural and architectural steelwork. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a hardworking, reliable, and driven individual to join our team as a Yard Manager.
The Role
As our Yard Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the yard. Your responsibilities will include:
- Loading and unloading lorries using a forklift.
- Organising steel and materials into job order.
- Painting fabricated steelwork.
- Checking that all materials required for each project have been completed before dispatch.
- Liaising closely with our fabrication team to ensure jobs stay on schedule.
- Working alongside the business owner to develop and implement new procedures that improve workflow, efficiency, and production.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised yard.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
- Be 25 years of age or over (for vehicle insurance purposes).
- Hold, or have previously held, a forklift truck licence.
- Have a full UK driving licence and your own transport due to our location.
- Have at least 3 years’ experience in a similar Yard Manager or supervisory yard role.
- Be organised, proactive, and capable of working independently.
- Have a positive attitude and be willing to get involved wherever needed.

- Overtime is available when required, although it cannot be guaranteed.
Pay
Starting rate: £13.77 per hour, with opportunities for progression based on performance and experience.
