Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a motivated and ambitious Clinical Fellow in Glaucoma for a 12-month fixed-term appointment based across Western Eye Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital . This post offers an excellent opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in the diagnosis, management and surgical treatment of glaucoma within a high-volume tertiary referral service About the Role
The successful candidate will join a highly regarded glaucoma team providing specialist care to a diverse patient population across North West London and beyond. The post is designed to provide advanced experience in all aspects of glaucoma management, including:
Glaucoma outpatient clinics
Virtual glaucoma services
Laser procedures
Cataract surgery in patients with glaucoma
Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS)
Surgical exposure to trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage devices
Multidisciplinary working alongside consultants, specialist nurses, optometrists and allied healthcare professionals

The post holder will be involved in:
Out-patient care of Glaucoma patients
To be involved in their ad hoc care and emergencies and to be available for advice when off site.
To undertake A&E sessions at the Western Eye Hospital
To maintain good communication with GP, optometrists, hospital clinicians and other allied professionals
To provide teaching to medical students, other junior doctors, optometrists
To assist in academic and pharmaceutical research activities within the department
To assist in the management and development of the clinical service

Clinical Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose and manage patients with glaucoma, ocular hypertension and related conditions within outpatient and virtual clinic settings.
Undertake comprehensive ophthalmic examinations, including interpretation of visual fields, OCT imaging, optic nerve assessment and other diagnostic investigations.
Formulate and implement treatment plans under consultant supervision where appropriate.
Participate in consultant-led and independent glaucoma clinics according to experience and competency.
Perform laser procedures including Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), YAG laser procedures and other treatments as appropriate.
Participate in cataract surgery and glaucoma surgical procedures, with opportunities for graded surgical responsibility dependent upon experience and competency.
Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation and correspondenc
Service Delivery
Contribute to the efficient delivery of glaucoma services across Western Eye Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.
Support the management of patient pathways to ensure safe, effective and timely care.
Work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, optometrists, orthoptists and administrative teams to maintain service quality and performance standards.
Participate in departmental rota commitments, including out-of-hours and on-call duties where required.
