We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Retrofit Assessor to join us at Ray & Co.

We are a building consultancy based in Essex, working with social housing providers, landlords and private home owners with decarbonising their housing stock.
We offer housing analysis, surveys, project coordination and a mixture of installation works.
Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting site visits and inspections to gather data on existing building systems and structures
- Support the assessment of building performance, including energy usage, insulation, ventilation, and other relevant factors
- Help compile detailed reports documenting findings, observations, and recommendations for retrofit measures
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, measurements, and client communications
- Participate in training sessions to develop technical knowledge of retrofit standards and assessment procedures
Requirements
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret technical data accurately
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients
- A proactive attitude with eagerness to learn about sustainable building practices
- Basic understanding of building systems such as electrical, or insulation is a plus but not mandatory
- Ability to work outdoors during site visits and adapt to varying conditions
This paid trainee position is designed for individuals passionate about sustainability and eager to develop a career in building assessments.
An example day of work would be driving to a property, conducting the property survey and preparing paperwork while on site, speak with the occupant about energy efficiency and then onto the next.
We would conduct no more than 3 Retrofit surveys in a day to keep a balanced workload.
We would also require the trainee to conduct Energy performance certificates depending on workload.
Current projects are based in London, Essex & Ipswich. there may be a requirement to stay away for work on occasion.
The trainee position is starting as a 3 day a week, with a 3 month probation. the 3 days a week can be flexible to the new starter, but training days will be fixed for the first 4 weeks.
Pay: £28,000.00 per year
