Oakwood Group International is a Liverpool business that supports organisations across consultancy, marketing and business development. We work closely with clients to understand where they currently stand, what they want to achieve and the commercial obstacles in their way, then build practical strategies shaped around each individual organisation. As our client base develops and the scope of our work broadens, we are appointing a Commercial Strategy Manager to strengthen the commercial capability behind that work.
This is a role with real responsibility. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will manage a portfolio of client accounts, shape commercially focused strategies and lead the delivery of projects that run across our consultancy, marketing and business development functions. You will be the person who turns commercial objectives into workable plans, guides senior client relationships and helps identify where genuine opportunities for growth exist. This is strategy and delivery combined, not a reporting or purely analytical position.

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Location: Liverpool, fully on site
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:30pm
Start date: Ideally within four weeks of accepting an offer

About Oakwood Group Int.
Oakwood Group provides tailored commercial support to businesses across consultancy, marketing and business development. Rather than delivering isolated pieces of work, we position ourselves as a long term partner, moving with clients through discovery and consultation, strategy development, implementation and ongoing performance review. Our work spans commercial strategy, customer acquisition, market positioning, operational improvement and growth planning, always built around the specific position and objectives of the business in front of us.
The Role
As Commercial Strategy Manager, you will hold direct responsibility for a set of client accounts and the commercial thinking behind them. You will assess where each client stands, develop strategies that address their objectives and market position, then work alongside our internal teams to see those strategies through to implementation. You will lead client meetings, present recommendations, review commercial performance and adjust the approach where results or market conditions call for it. It is a varied role that combines commercial analysis with practical delivery and senior relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop practical commercial strategies for key client accounts, assessing each client's objectives, market position and challenges across areas such as business growth, customer acquisition, market development and operational improvement.
- Analyse client performance, customer behaviour and market activity to identify opportunities involving new services, target markets, partnerships, campaigns or geographic expansion.
- Lead commercial performance reviews against agreed KPIs, revenue figures and campaign results, establishing what is working, where results are falling short and what actions should follow.
- Convert commercial recommendations into clear implementation plans with defined priorities, timelines, responsibilities and measurable outcomes, working alongside colleagues throughout delivery.
- Act as a strategic point of contact for selected accounts, leading meetings, presenting recommendations, discussing priorities and constructively challenging assumptions where appropriate.
- Contribute to proposals, pitches and presentations for prospective clients, while identifying suitable opportunities to broaden Oakwood's relationships with existing accounts.
- Carry out commercial and competitor analysis covering pricing, customer trends and market movements, making sure recommendations rest on evidence rather than assumption.
- Coordinate projects that draw together consultancy, marketing and business development colleagues, keeping activity aligned with the client's original commercial objectives.
About You
- Around three to five years of relevant experience in commercial strategy, consultancy, business development, client management or a closely related environment, including meaningful responsibility for commercial projects or client accounts. Comparable experience that demonstrates the same capability will also be considered.
- Experience developing commercial, business or growth strategies, from assessing performance and identifying opportunities through to producing practical action plans.
- Strong commercial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret revenue information, KPIs, customer behaviour, market data and competitor activity to inform decisions.
- A track record of managing senior client or stakeholder relationships, including leading meetings, presenting recommendations and communicating priorities clearly.
- Experience coordinating projects that span several business functions, which may include marketing, business development, sales, operations or consultancy.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including preparing commercial reports, proposals, presentations and recommendations for both internal and external audiences.
Your background does not need to sit within one particular industry. Transferable commercial experience is genuinely welcome.
Why Join Oakwood Group Int.
This is a commercially influential position with direct access to the Managing Director and real ownership of significant client accounts. You will work across consultancy, marketing and business development projects, shaping both the strategy and how it is put into practice, and you will face a genuine variety of commercial challenges as you move between different client businesses. The role is permanent, Monday to Friday, and based in our Liverpool city centre office.
