Do you have a passion for Early Years education and strong skills in vocational training and assessment?
We're looking for a dedicated Assessor to join our Early Years team. In this rewarding role, you will assess and verify learners' skills, knowledge and behaviours within placement settings and workplaces, providing high-quality assessment, guidance and support throughout their learning journey. Currently, this post focuses primarily on T Level Early Years students, although there may be opportunities to assess other related qualifications.
As an Assessor, you will play a vital role in helping learners achieve success by delivering high-quality assessment and support in line with awarding body and industry standards. You will work closely with students, employers and curriculum teams to ensure learners develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their qualifications and progress in their careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess learners in workplace and placement settings against qualification standards.
- Conduct workplace observations and gather evidence of competence.
- Provide constructive feedback and create individual action plans to support learner progress.
- Deliver individual and group training sessions, workshops and assessment preparation activities.
- Support learners in developing their knowledge, skills, behaviours, English and maths.
- Maintain accurate learner records and assessment documentation.
- Build positive relationships with employers, students and other stakeholders.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, standardisation meetings and ongoing professional development.
- A Level 3 qualification or above in a relevant subject area.
- A recognised Assessor Qualification.
- Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience working within the Early Years sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and IT skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- The ability to travel to multiple workplace settings to support learners.
- Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent and supporting learners in the workplace

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction (must be completed within probation), followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET) including Assessor is required, and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. Completion of this structured learning programme is expected within 3 years. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS).
