Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Block Paving Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing high-quality block paving surfaces for a variety of outdoor projects. Duties
- Preparing surfaces by clearing, levelling, and compacting ground to ensure a stable base for paving
- Laying blocks with precision to meet specified patterns and levels
- Using hand tools such as trowels, hammers, and levels to achieve accurate placement
- Operating power tools safely for cutting and shaping blocks as required
- Mixing and applying mortar or other adhesives where necessary
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations
- Maintaining a clean work environment by clearing debris and organising tools and materials
- Assisting with other masonry or construction tasks as needed on site
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and masonry equipment effectively and safely
- Experience in bricklaying or general masonry work is highly desirable
- Knowledge of block paving techniques and patterns
- Ability to operate carpentry, roofing, or welding equipment is advantageous but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise installation
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive approach to safety and quality standards
