CleanTech People are recruiting for an experienced Gateway Assessment Worker to join a busy Housing service in Newport on a temporary project basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in housing, homelessness, assessments, customer support or working with vulnerable individuals, who is confident gathering information, assessing needs and providing appropriate advice and support.
The successful candidate will work as part of a Housing team, carrying out initial assessments and providing advice and guidance to individuals seeking housing support.
You will act as an important first point of contact, gathering relevant information, identifying housing needs and ensuring individuals are appropriately advised, supported and referred where necessary.
The role will involve working with a range of people, including those who may be experiencing housing difficulties or require additional support.
Carry out initial gateway assessments to understand individual housing needs and circumstances.
Gather and accurately record relevant personal and housing information.
Assess housing circumstances and identify appropriate support or housing options.
Provide clear and accurate information, advice and guidance.
Identify individuals who may require additional support or intervention.
Make appropriate referrals to relevant housing, support and partner services.
Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to ensure individuals receive appropriate assistance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation.
Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Respond professionally to enquiries and provide a high standard of customer service.
Support individuals to understand their housing options and available services.
Identify safeguarding or vulnerability concerns and escalate appropriately.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations.
Manage a varied workload while ensuring assessments and enquiries are dealt with within required timescales.
Support the wider Housing service with administrative and assessment duties as required.
We are looking for candidates with:
Previous experience within housing, homelessness, assessments, customer services, support work or administration.
Experience working directly with members of the public.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to gather, assess and accurately record information.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Ability to deal sensitively and professionally with people who may be experiencing difficult circumstances.
Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
Ability to identify issues and determine appropriate next steps.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Confidence using IT systems and databases.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
Previous Housing or Local Authority experience.
Experience within homelessness or housing options services.
Experience undertaking assessments.
Experience supporting vulnerable individuals.
Knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness services.
Experience working with partner agencies.
Experience of case management systems.
Welsh language skills.
£14.82 per hour PAYE
37 hours per week
30-week temporary assignment
