Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating forklifts to handle materials, manage shipping and receiving tasks, and support overall warehouse operations. This role requires a strong understanding of warehouse procedures, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform heavy lifting. Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklift trucks to load, unload, and move goods within the warehouse
- Utilise Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory movements and update records accurately
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring correct documentation and handling of materials
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic repairs or notify maintenance for mechanical issues
- Handle materials carefully, ensuring proper stacking, storage, and organisation of stock
- Support inventory management by conducting stock counts and maintaining organised storage areas
- Assist with general warehouse duties such as organising storage areas and maintaining cleanliness
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational targets efficiently
Skills
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks in a warehouse environment
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory control
- Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting
- Strong materials handling skills with the ability to lift heavy loads safely
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures and documentation requirements
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory counts and measurements
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
