Home Access is a small Christian not for profit charity based out of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, we assist individuals and families within the Vale of Glamorgan who are homeless or potentially at risk of being made homeless, to find suitable longer-term accommodation, including accommodation within the private rental sector. The Trust has an established Bond scheme, through which it we can issue a bond to serve as an initial deposit to a landlord, and thereby enable a prospective, homeless, tenant to access rented accommodation.
We are looking to recruit a treasurer to take over money matters. The role involves managing one account’s assistant, Cathie is responsible for making payments, processing payroll and completing each quarters grant funding submissions to the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The Treasures key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and protecting the company’s financial status.
- Manage the accounts assistant Cathie, providing support and guidance.
- Maintain the main Microsoft excel management accounts template.
- Review and submit the quarterly grant submissions to the Vale of Glamorgan.
- Update the Payroll system Payroo, changing the financial year, updating any tax code change and updating the details on its one paid employee.
- Prepare the annual accounts for review by our external auditor ahead of submitting year end returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Submit an annual tax return to Companies House.
- Provide a financial overview to fellow trustees at the 4 quarterly trustee management meetings and at the annual AGM.
- Maintain relationships with The Vale of Glamorgan and Welsh Government.
Ideally you would hold, or be working towards, a recognised professional accounting qualification.
This is an unpaid volunteer role that only requires a minimal time commitment but offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience around charity, governance and the requirements of the Charity Commission.
