About the role
You’ll support the Repairs Team to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services across One Manchester properties, focusing on excellent customer service and a "Right First Time" approach. You'll carry out a wide range of repair, maintenance, refurbishment and renewal works to tenanted and void homes, travelling directly to jobs using a company vehicle.
What you’ll be doing
- Act as a positive ambassador for One Manchester, demonstrating company values and delivering excellent customer service.
- Diagnose and complete repairs efficiently, aiming to resolve issues in a single visit.
- Carry out multi-skilled repairs, maintenance, refurbishment, empty homes works and construction tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Maximise productivity, minimise waste and effectively manage van stock.
- Work flexibly across a 40-hour week, maintaining punctuality and customer appointments.
- Collaborate with managers, colleagues and stakeholders to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records using mobile devices and company systems.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns and contribute to continuous service improvement.
What we’re looking for
We’re after someone who has:
- Completed a recognised trade apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 qualification.
- Competence in painting and decorating (core trade), plus plumbing, plastering, joinery and tiling.
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work safely, accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Why join us?
We know that great services start with great people. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where colleagues feel supported, valued and able to grow. Alongside meaningful work and opportunities to develop, you’ll also benefit from:
- 27 days’ annual leave when you join us, rising to 30 days after three years’ service, plus UK bank holidays
- the option to buy or sell annual leave through our holiday scheme
- a genuine approach to agile and flexible working, dependent on the role
- an excellent pension scheme with an 11.4% employer contribution through the Smart SHPS DC salary sacrifice scheme
- supportive people policies that help you balance work and life
- Medicash healthcare cash plan membership, with Level 1 cover paid by us
- a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
- Perkbox, our benefits platform giving you access to hundreds of discounts, benefits and wellbeing resources
- a Cycle to Work scheme through Halfords
- access to Manchester Credit Union for affordable financial support, including loans, savings accounts and money guidance
- support to gain professional qualifications, with paid memberships fees for relevant professional bodies
