We are looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to join our Burrito Kitchen team inside Tesco.
This is a hands-on role working in both the kitchen and on our Burrito Kitchen counter.
This would be helping to prepare and cook our hot food, label products, support deliveries, and look after our orange juice machines. You will also help lead the team, manage cooking forecasts, maintain high food safety standards, and support daily operations.
The role includes:
- Preparing and cooking hot food in the kitchen
- Managing cooking forecasts to help ensure the right amount of food is prepared
- Labelling products correctly
- Looking after and maintaining the orange juice machines
- Helping with deliveries when required
- Supporting food safety standards and daily checks
- Helping with audits and making sure procedures are followed
- Motivating and supporting a team of both team members and delivery riders
- Supporting the team during busy periods
- Working a variety of shifts, including weekends

Hours:
This is a full-time position of 40+ hours per week. Shifts can start from 6am, and weekend availability is required.
Experience in food preparation, retail, hospitality, food safety, or a supervisor/assistant manager role would be helpful, but full training can be provided for the right person.

Duties
- Overseeing daily store operations, ensuring smooth functioning throughout the day.

- Provide excellent customer service by addressing enquiries promptly and maintaining high standards of phone etiquette.
- Organise staff schedules, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor performance to ensure organisational goals are met.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff members.
- Maintain accurate administrative records, including stock levels, sales reports, and employee attendance.
- Assist in visual merchandising to enhance store presentation and attract customers.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Proven management experience within retail or similar customer-focused environments.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and develop teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable.
- Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently under pressure.
- Experience in sales management, merchandising, and administrative tasks.
- Previous experience in retail management or supervisory roles is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate effective phone etiquette and organisational skills in a fast-paced setting.
- Management or supervisory certification is advantageous but not essential.
