Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated Trainee Sawyer to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialised skills in woodworking and fabrication within a supportive environment. Role
- Learn to cut raw timber to specification in preparation for machining.
- Work from cutting lists and develop the ability to calculate cutting sizes accurately using basic maths skills.
- Receive training in the safe setup and operation of saws and other machinery.
- Learn how to assess the most efficient cutting process to minimise waste.
- Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety.
- Assist with routine equipment checks and general mill duties as required.
Candidate
- Confident with basic maths and able to work accurately from measurements and cutting lists.
- Keen to learn new skills and develop a career within the timber industry.
- No previous saw or timber industry experience is required - full training will be provided.
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised and trustworthy with a positive attitude.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and willing to support colleagues to achieve team goals.
