Overview
We are on the lookout for a passionate and innovative Senior New Product Development Technologist to join our dynamic team based at our Consett Site (DH8 7NU). In this role, you'll be at the forefront of creating exciting new products that meet market needs and elevate our brand. Your expertise will drive the entire development process, from ideation through to launch, ensuring each product aligns with quality standards and consumer expectations. Duties
- Continuously develop and introduce new and improved products to meet strategic objectives of the business and expectations of the customers.
- Market research to investigate and identify customer needs, upcoming trends with aim to take advantage of potential business opportunities.
- Interpret retailer briefs ensuring innovative and technologically sound product designs are generated in line with customer expectations, operational constraints, and commercial needs of the business.
- Recipe development and reformulation to achieve a product that meets customer expectations and that is financially and technically feasible.
- Completing account specific documentation and project work when required.
- Reviewing and approving artwork.
- Organising and attending factory trials and ensure output of the trial is documented and communicated to the business.
- Working with new and current suppliers to source new, high quality and cost-effective ingredients and assist the Technical team in the approval of new suppliers/ingredients by gathering all necessary data.
- Nutritional testing of new products to ensure that the nutritional composition of a new product meets the requirements of the retailers’ nutritional policies and/or fulfils nutritional claims.
- Visiting retailers and shopping to support sample preparations or customer meeting refreshments as required by the business.
- Support and look after the team’s training and development in relation to their role.
Experience
- Proven experience in a Senior NPD role (candidates in NPD Technologist roles may also be considered), ideally within the food and drinks industry.
- Strong knowledge of formulation techniques, ingredient functionality, and processing methods.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols.
- Effective communication skills for presenting ideas clearly across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to think creatively while maintaining a detail-oriented approach throughout the development process.
- A proactive attitude with a passion for innovation and continuous learning in the product development field.

Pay: £36,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
