Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing a wide range of heavy goods vehicles, including lorries and specialised equipment. Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, including lorries, excavators, and forklifts.
- Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical diagrams, then carry out repairs using appropriate tools.
- Perform fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly tasks as required for vehicle repairs or modifications.
- Repair or replace faulty components such as brakes, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialised machinery to complete repairs efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Assist with equipment repair and maintenance tasks across various machinery used within the organisation.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations while providing excellent customer service to internal teams or external clients when necessary.
- Support the safe operation of heavy lifting equipment during repairs or part replacements.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Proficient in reading schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with electrical systems within heavy goods vehicles.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts.
- Ability to perform equipment repair with precision and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for heavy machinery and vehicles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently.

Pay: £26,002.27-£52,981.54 per year
