Swim Instructor (Sue’s Swim School) | Established 40+ years | 6 locations
Sue’s Swim School has been teaching children to swim for over 40 years. We are not a pop-up swim school. We are established, busy, and we need another strong instructor who can deliver high-quality lessons consistently.
This is a poolside coaching role for someone who enjoys teaching, keeps standards high, and wants reliable work with a supportive team behind them. You will help swimmers build confidence, progress through their stages, and learn water safety properly, not just “get through a lesson”.
Responsibilities
- Deliver structured, progressive swimming lessons to a range of ages and abilities
- Create a safe, organised session environment, including enforcing pool rules and maintaining strong supervision
- Give clear demonstrations, instructions and feedback that improves technique and confidence
- Adapt your teaching approach to different learning styles and needs
- Maintain a tidy, professional poolside set-up, including safe storage of equipment
- Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues when needed
- Support the wider programme, including occasional events and assessments (where required)
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and Sue’s Swim School operating procedures at all times
Experience and Requirements
- Experience teaching, coaching or instructing (aquatics preferred, but not essential if you can prove coaching ability)
- Confident communication with children and adults, with the ability to control a class and keep it positive
- A calm, professional approach under pressure, especially when sessions are busy
- Able to work independently, but also contribute properly as part of a team
- Water safety awareness is expected; first aid is desirable but not essential as training can be provided
- Swimming teaching qualifications are welcomed (and will strengthen your application)
