Overview
We are seeking a passionate, caring, and dedicated Class Teacher to join our supportive and vibrant team. The successful candidate will play an important role in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where young children can learn, develop, and thrive.
You will take responsibility for the effective daily running of the classroom, ensuring that children receive high-quality teaching, learning, and care. Working closely with teachers, colleagues, parents, and other professionals, you will support each child's individual development while promoting independence, confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take responsibility for the effective daily running of the room, ensuring it is safe, clean, tidy, well-organised, and appropriately set up for learning at all times.
- Provide a warm, caring, and stimulating environment that supports children's emotional, social, physical, and educational development.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate high-quality learning experiences through a balance of focused adult-led and child-led activities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Support individual children and groups using appropriate strategies to meet their individual learning, developmental, and care needs, while promoting independence, confidence, self-reliance, and positive relationships.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date planning, observations, learning posts, assessments, attendance records, and other required nursery documentation.
- Observe and monitor children's development, progress, wellbeing, and engagement, identifying and reporting any concerns appropriately.
- Ensure daily routines, rotas, and agreed procedures are followed consistently and effectively.
- Complete and maintain up-to-date risk assessments and ensure all children are safeguarded at all times in accordance with nursery policies and procedures.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of safeguarding procedures, nursery policies, EYFS requirements, and Ofsted expectations.
- Support children's physical welfare and personal care needs, including hygiene, self-care, toileting, and individual care programmes where required.
- Prepare and maintain an engaging, purposeful, orderly, and supportive learning environment, including appropriate resources and activities.
- Contribute to the planning and development of allocated areas of learning alongside teachers and the wider nursery team.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, colleagues, parents, carers, and other professionals to support children's learning, development, and wellbeing.
- Communicate with parents, carers, visitors, and professionals in a friendly, calm, professional, and respectful manner.
- Support with lunch service, refreshments, and other daily routines as required or according to the rota.
- Complete all required nursery paperwork, including medicine checks, accident forms, observations, and other relevant records.
- Participate in nursery events, projects, and other activities, and undertake any reasonable ad hoc duties requested by the Line Manager or management team.
Experience and Skills:
- Previous experience working with children in a nursery, early years, childcare, or educational setting.
- Good understanding of children's development and the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Experience supporting children's learning through play, child-led activities, and focused adult-led activities.
- Knowledge of effective safeguarding practices and a commitment to protecting children's welfare at all times.
- Understanding of appropriate behaviour management strategies and the ability to create a positive, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Experience observing, assessing, and recording children's learning and development.
- Ability to support children with a range of individual learning and developmental needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, and professionals.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also taking responsibility for allocated tasks and areas of learning.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and complete required paperwork.
- A proactive and caring approach, with a genuine passion for supporting young children's development and wellbeing.
- Knowledge of nursery policies, safeguarding procedures, EYFS requirements, and Ofsted expectations is desirable.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and approachable in a busy early years environment.
