Hours of work
Part time - 20 hours per week to include some weekend availability
Role Purpose: To maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff, supporting residents’ comfort, dignity and wellbeing by ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout the home.
Responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation across the entire home in line with the highborder lodge One Home approach. This approach promotes teamwork across all departments, where staff support one another as needed to ensure the smooth running of the home.
Duties include cleaning and sanitising all areas, supporting colleagues in other departments when required, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, and responding flexibly to the needs of the home. Works collaboratively to ensure that all residents receive consistent, high-quality care and that the home operates efficiently as one team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Carry out daily cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, corridors and stairways to a high standard, following the home’s cleaning schedules
· Make beds daily and change bed linen as required, following infection control procedures.
· Supporting a clean, safe, “home-like” environment
· Clean floors by vacuuming, mopping and hoovering, including stairs and communal areas and corridors.
· Carry out deep cleans of the bedrooms, kitchen and communal areas as required
· Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times, including correct use of cleaning products and PPE.
· Support a safe environment by promptly reporting spills, hazards or maintenance issues to the manager.
· Attend to the service users’ laundry tasks including washing, drying, ironing, folding and putting away items in line with the home’s procedures
· Work respectfully around residents, maintaining their privacy, dignity and comfort at all times.
· Dispose of waste safely and correctly, including clinical and household waste.
· Communicate any concerns about cleanliness, hygiene or the environment to the Manger promptly.
Skills and Approach:
· Reliable, organised and able to work independently
· Friendly, respectful manner with an understanding of the needs of older people
· Willing to follow guidance and attend required training and staff meetings.
· Flexible and willing to work day and weekend shifts, and to provide cover during annual leave and staff sickness when required.
· Experience is desired, but not essential.
Pay: £12.94 per hour
